When you were an employee, your salary wasn't the whole cost.
Your employer paid for your laptop, your pension, your sick pay, your holiday pay, the marketing that brought in the work, and the heating in the office.

When you go solo, YOU pay for all of that.

If you just take your old hourly wage and add a tiny bit on top, you are essentially taking a pay cut to work harder.

You need to factor in the "unbillable" time (admin, marketing, finance) and the overheads.

Charge for the value you deliver, not just the minutes on the clock.

I found out this week that I’ve been nominated for the 2026 Enterprise Vision Awards in the Best Business - Training & Coaching Category 🏆

The nomination was submitted confidentially, I’m super grateful to whoever took the time to put such kind words together!

What She Said was created because I could see female service-based founders being overlooked, especially at micro-business level. I wanted to build a space where women could grow with confidence, without hustle culture, and on their own terms.

The Enterprise Vision Awards are the UK’s largest celebration of women in business, and being recognised in their 15th anniversary year feels incredibly special.
